Work began earlier this summer on a major overhaul of Manx Electric Railway tram number six.
This work will include repairs to the woodwork of the body, fitting of new channels and other repairs to the under frame and an overhaul of the bogies and all other equipment.
In a significant engineering development for the vintage fleet, a novel approach is being utilised.
Manx Electric Railway Online said: “In what is thought to be for the first time with an MER Car, a steel frame has been constructed around and fastened to the body which has been lifted from the underframe.”
Work is currently proceeding on fitting the new side channels.
