The DHSC says successful recruitment is why Manx Care has closed recruitment to the Nurse Talent Pool for Band 5 and Band 6 roles.
Minister Claire Christian, stated the closure was “because of the success of the targeted recruitment and training programmes that were put in place following safe staffing reviews that started in 2021″.
The decision was made “to ensure the limited resources of Locate are being used carefully and effectively to attract staff in the highest shortage professional groups”.
On the effect on permanent and bank positions, Ms Christian said that “over the last two years, band 5 vacancies have fallen from 22.6% to the July position of 11.8% and Band 6 vacancies have fallen likewise from 25.6% to 16.9%.”
She added that “this level will fall further as the 2025 cohort of Isle of Man nursing graduates join the workforce this month”.
