Pack sun cream; the temperature is on its way up

Myself and Katie walking the Parish way back in 2019.

Just after the longest day, summer seems to be finally on its way and it is time to pack the sun cream as temperatures are on the way up!

I write this with mixed emotions; I bleeding well love the heat, but hate the vermin it brings with it, horseflies.

Can someone please enlighten me what their purpose is? Other than to be a nuisance and cause unnecessary pain and suffering. I would happily like to exterminate each and every one of the little f***s.

Sun cream at the ready

For those of you doing the parish walk today (June 22), you’ll be buzzing to know it is going to be glorious, not too hot and not too cold – just as Sam Turton likes it.

Although I would definitely pack sun cream to avoid any burns or skin damage (it’s called growing up, and now being aware that burning to enable tan is not so wise).

It is forecast to be dry with sunny spells for much of today, then turning cloudy in the evening with some patchy rain for a time overnight.

The light westerly wind is turning southerly and freshening with highs of 16°C.

Scorchio Sunday

Ronaldsway Met Office has forecast a cloudy start on Sunday (June 23) with the risk of some coastal mist or fog patches at times, but then some bright or sunny spells developing.

It says winds will be light to moderate west to northwest, backing southwest, and a maximum temperature of around 17°C.

However, my trusty friend XC Weather has forecast 19°C for much of tomorrow… regardless, it is going to be nice and toasty.

Outlook

It is happening. It is finally happening; highs of 20°C are on the forecast and no wind! Which isn’t so great for my horsefly hatred, but wonderful for the seasonal affective disorder.

Monday, June 24 is forecast to be warm with sunny spells, but with a risk of coastal mist and fog patches.

Highs of 19°C, lows of 13°C and wind backing down to 05-10 later on in the day.

Tuesday looks even better!! That is where we shall start to see 20°C (start thinking about the excuses to get out of work now, or reasons that you MUST work outside!).

It will be warm with sunny intervals, with a continuing risk of coastal mist and fog patches – I don’t have to worry about that in the north, so sucks to be anyone who deals with the fog, sorry not sorry.

Wind will be pretty much non existent – I can’t believe I’m writing that.

Anyway, if you’re walking the Parish – best of luck! Stay hydrated and enjoy it (I don’t envy your feet afterwards), and if you’re a lazy sod like me, enjoy some beers on the sidelines!
