Plan to Convert Former Takeaway

A planning application has been submitted to convert a former chippy and flat on Castle Mona Avenue, Douglas, into three homes.

The proposal from Jeanne Dodds seeks to reconfigure the existing building to create one-bedroom apartments across the ground, first, and second floors.

The property, currently a mix of retail and residential use, would undergo minor external alterations, including a new front door and window, while retaining its existing façade.

Internal upgrades will focus on improving energy efficiency and modernising living spaces.

Conversion

In a supporting statement, the applicant said: “The proposed conversion will reconfigure the existing building to deliver three residential units over basement, ground, first, and second floor levels.

“Each apartment will have access to high-quality internal living spaces and associated amenity provision.”

No additional parking spaces are proposed, with the site relying on public transport links. Refuse and cycle storage will be provided in a shared communal area.
