Planning App Due in Spring

The Department of Education, Sport and Culture has confirmed it expects to submit a planning application for the new Castle Rushen High School in late April 2026.

In response to written Tynwald questions from Onchan MHK Julie Edge, Minister Daphne Caine outlined the revised timeline under a Design and Build model.

The integrated consultancy team and architectural consortium have been appointed, with AtkinsRealis acting as the ICT and Sheppard Robson as the lead architect. McGarrigle Architects will provide on-island architectural support.

A series of critical deadlines are now established with tender documents due to be issued this week, with returns due by February 2 2026.

The department said it is currently targeting the award of a Pre-construction Services Agreement for February 25 2026 and a Guaranteed Maximum Price agreement by early April.

Mrs Caine noted that a Tynwald Motion is scheduled for June, with mobilisation and a start on site anticipated for Summer 2026.
