A scheme to create eight new-build lettable office units at The Nunnery Estate in Douglas has received unanimous planning approval.
The project, brought forward by the International Centre for Technology and designed by McGarrigle Ayre Architects, will replace the estate’s redundant stable buildings with flexible modern office accommodation set within the historic stable yard.
Following consultation with Planning, the Conservation Officer and Manx National Heritage, the architects produced a design that responds closely to the site’s heritage.
The approved plans include stone walls, natural‑slate roofs and architectural details that reference the surrounding stable and ancillary buildings.
The development is intended to support local businesses while helping secure the long‑term future of one of the island’s most significant historic estates.
