Police Urge Road Users to ‘Be Bright at Night’

The Isle of Man Constabulary is reminding road users to take extra care as the clocks go back this weekend, bringing shorter days and darker travel conditions.

At 2am on Sunday (October 25), British Summer Time will end, meaning many people will soon be travelling to and from work or school in darkness.

Police say reduced daylight and changing weather can make it more difficult for road users to see and be seen, increasing the importance of visibility for pedestrians, cyclists and motorists alike.

The Constabulary’s Road Safety Team is encouraging everyone to follow simple safety measures and make themselves as visible as possible during the autumn and winter months.

A spokesperson said: “As the evenings grow darker and the weather turns, make sure you are Bright at Night.”

By taking a little extra care and improving visibility, police say everyone can play a part in helping keep the island’s roads safe this autumn.
