Isle of Man Post Office has now formally invited expressions of interest from Port St Mary businesses to provide postal and parcel collection services.
It follows the closure last month of Torden Stores, which used to provide the services in the village.
A spokesperson for IoM Post Office said the approach for its retail network “focuses on ensuring communities continue to have convenient access to postal services through sustainable and customer-focused solutions”.
Two options
As part of the procurement process for Port St Mary, businesses may submit proposals for one of two options.
“The first is a postal counter service, providing services such as prepaid and returns parcel handling, the sale of postage for Isle of Man and UK letters and parcels, and international letters.
“The second is a Parcel Collection service, providing a convenient location for customers to collect parcels and other mail items received from IOMPO.”
Both options were “designed to complement existing retail businesses by increasing customer footfall, enhancing local services, and supporting community access to postal services”.
Interested parties have until midday on September 1 to register their interest.
