Airport director Gary Cobb has been praised for doing his best to improve the experience for patient transfers through Ronaldsway.
Manx.News exclusively revealed on Thursday night to Mr Cobb has handed in his notice to take a job elsewhere.
Responding to the news, Carole Male, who has been a campaigner to improve services on and off-island for people requiring treatment in the UK, praised Mr Cobb for his support.
She said: “He was a terrific director and tried to do whatever he could to make travel easier for our sick patients.
“I met with him a few times and he couldn’t do enough for them and always responded to issues we had and quickly solved them. I think perhaps it was an impossible job for anyone with all of the constraints put on things. He’ll be missed!’
Mr Cobb has said he will be in post for a while before he takes up his new role off-island.
