The Isle of Man Prison has signed up to the Storybook Dads and Storybook Mums scheme, meaning prisoners are able to record bedtime stories for their children.
Originally started in HMP Dartmoor in 2002 the scheme now operates in over 100 prisons, helping kids and parents to stay connected while the parent is absent.
Prisoners are supported to record themselves reading a bedtime story using equipment and books that have been purchased by Isle of Man Prison.

The recording is then sent to the Storybook HQ where a team of trained prisoners edit it, add sound effects and produce it on to a disc.
This is then posted back to the Island for the prisoner to gift to their child.
The prison staff are able to guide and support prisoners through the recording process, and even provide assisted reading sessions for those who are less confident readers.
Storybook Dads and Mums is a registered charity, and the scheme is completely free for the prisoners and their families.
