Producers Showcase Products to Buyers

An event was held by two government departments to give producers a chance to showcase their products to potential buyers.

The ‘Meet Your Producer’ event was held at Noa Market Hall by the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture and Department of Enterprise.

The objective of last nights event was to give managers, buyers and business owners of café’s, restaurants, pubs, hotels, and convenience shops to explore and network with local food and drink producers.

Political member for DEFA Claire Christian MHK told Manx.News that as well as local buyers, international buyers also attended the event.

Meet Your Producers

DEFA came under much scrutiny from local producers following the cancelation of the Isle of Man Food and Drink Festival.

Claire Christian echoed the voice of DEFA Minister Clare Barber MHK and said that the department advised producers “too late” that the festival would not go ahead.

Christian says that meetings have been held between the department and producers to see what producers want from a local food and drink festival.

The Douglas South MHK has now been given food as a “special project” and says that this time the department will the food and drink festival “right”.
