Public to be asked about single-use vape ban

The government is planning a consultation on banning disposable vapes.

Environment minister Clare Barber was asked about the potential for a ban by Douglas South MHK Sarah Maltby.

Disposable vapes are due to be banned in the UK, not for environmental concerns, but to prevent children from accessing them.

Mrs Barber said: ‘The Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture, has become acutely aware of the environmental implications posed by disposable vapes.

‘Matters relating to single-use plastic and waste disposal have been explored and the best approach considered.

‘As a result draft Regulations using the Climate Change Act have been prepared and subject to department approval a public consultation to ban the use of disposable vapes is planned in Spring 2024.’
