Resurfacing works begin on Silverdale Road

Works have started on the resurfacing scheme for Silverdale Road, near Ballasalla.

The Department has contracted Island Drainage & Groundwork Ltd (IDG) to undertake this work as part of the Department’s ongoing midi paver scheme.

IDG is currently on site undertaking preparatory work such as scraping back verges ahead of resurfacing. The planned work includes improving some of the existing surface water drainage system at the low points of the road to increase capacity to better divert water off the carriageway.

During these works there is a road closure in place and this road will not be available as a through route. Please note though that access to the businesses at Silverdale will be maintained.

Visitors to the Glen and play area are advised to use the DEFA – Hills, Forests & Glens car park, accessed of the Ballamodha Road.
