Trees Cause Emergency Road Closure

An emergency closure has been granted for a section of road between Ballacraine and Greeba will be closed from tomorrow until Friday.

The road will be closed between Ballacraine traffic lights to a point approximately 300 metres to the east of Ballacraine (in the direction of Greeba).

The road closure times and dates are below:

• 9.30am to 3.30pm Wednesday, January 22

• 9.30am to 3.30pm Thursday, January 23

• 9.30am to 3.30pm Friday, January 24

The DoI said: “A recent inspection has identified that many of the affected trees are either already dead or have otherwise deteriorated to such an extent that they are in danger of falling of their own accord, especially in high winds.

“This work is necessary to maintain the safety of road users.”

Ballacraine Closure

A marked diversion route will be in place via Glen Darragh Road (Glen Vine)/Foxdale/The Hope/Ballacraine.

This work is being done by a firm of arborists on behalf of the landowner who has responsibility for these trees.

Buses

As a result of this, there will be a series of diversions in place which will impact on bus passengers.

Services to Peel & Ramsey:

Service 5 & 5c journeys divert from Glen Vine via Glen Darragh Road, Braaid, Foxdale and The Hope to Ballacraine. Service 6 journeys follow the same diversion up to The Hope Junction. Service 5 & 5c Journeys DO NOT serve Peel Promenade and operate direct to Peel Town Hall.

Services to Douglas:

Service 5 &5c journeys divert from Ballacraine via Curragh Road, Foxdale, Braaid & Glen Darragh Road to Glen Vine. Service 6 journeys follow the same diversion from The Hope.

During the closure period, buses DO NOT serve stops at Marown TV and ALL Stops in Crosby & Greeba.
