The Rotary Club of Rushen & Western Mann sprung into action when teachers at Scoill Phurt le Moirrey approached it for help to construct new raised garden planters for the reception class.
Working with a number of local groups and businesses, club members joined together to construct the new garden planters.
The club thanked the Men in Sheds community workshop in Port Erin, whose members built the planters, plus Ross Cain Plant Hire for supplying equipment and Southern Nomads Under-15s who provided manpower!
Peter Winstanley, from the Rotary Club of Rushen & Western Mann, commented: “Rotary has been pleased to help pull together this gardening project, working with partners in the local community, which will benefit young pupils for years to come in learning about their environment.”
Reception class teacher Megan Hunter added: “The children have already been asking what the raised beds are for and are so excited to be able to plant things in them.
“They are going to be such a lovely addition to our reception outdoor area, and I know the children will get so much enjoyment from planting, caring for and watching things grow.
“We really appreciate all the time, effort and generosity that has gone into making them happen.”
