Details of land and building acquisitions by government departments since 2021 have been published following a Tynwald question from Onchan MHK Julie Edge.
A series of £1 “commuted sum” transfers in Ramsey appear on the list, covering several properties at Royal Park acquired by the Department of Infrastructure in 2024.
Ms Edge asked Treasury Minister Chris Thomas to list all purchases made by each department, including location and cost.
Mr Thomas said Treasury maintains a central asset register but confirmed that individual departments typically carry out acquisitions.
To provide a full response, Treasury contacted all departments to verify records.
The published list includes several notable purchases:
| Department | Property | Location | Cost | Year |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Treasury | IOMA House, 34 Hope Street | Douglas | £2.1m | 2025 |
| Treasury | Approximately 15 acres of land at Ballaterson | Peel | Not stated | 2025 |
| DOI | 12 Kennaugh Close, Reayrt Mie | Ballasalla | £1.1m | 2025 |
| DOI | 107–112 Royal Park | Ramsey | £1 each | 2024 (commuted sums) |

Mr Thomas noted that the figures exclude interdepartmental transfers and may not capture all First Time Buyer or commuted‑sum transfers.
