Sheppard Declares For Rushen

Helen Sheppard has announced she will stand as a candidate for Rushen in the 2026 House of Keys General Election.

Sheppard, founder and trustee of children’s charity A Little Piece of Hope, said she is running because she “cares deeply about the communities of Rushen and the people who live here.”

Her priorities include supporting families, improving mental health services, strengthening the local economy, and investing in local services and infrastructure.

She also pledged “honest politics that puts residents first.”

Sheppard has spent 14 years working in schools and as a carer, alongside running her charity, which supports bereaved and seriously ill families across the island.

She plans to canvass in the coming weeks and will publish her full manifesto in August.

Also standing in Rushen is Michelle Haywood, Mark Kemp, Michael Crowe, Laurence Vaughan-Williams and Simon Williams.
