Sir Miles to Give Committee Evidence

The island’s first Chief Minister is to give evidence to a select committee looking at the Isle of Man’s political setup.

Sir Miles Walker, twice elected to serve as Chief Minister in 1986 and 1991, will appear before the Constitutional and Legal Affairs and Justice Committee tomorrow.

Chaired by Tanya August-Philips MLC, the committee also includes MHKs Lawrie Hooper and Stu Peters.

Sir Miles will give evidence on the ministerial system of government, which he played a key part in introducing in the 1980s, on Monday afternoon at 2:30pm.

There has been suggestions that the ministerial set up is not the best way for the island to be governed, especially with each department acting as its own legal entity.
