Onchan Commissioners will conduct a feasibility study to see whether the site of their own offices could become a “mixed use” development.
They will look into whether Hawthorn Villa could include social housing, commercial space and have “appropriate” room for the authority’s operations.
The property is at 79 Main Road in Onchan.
Vice-chair Scott Wilson says the plan wouldn’t be set in stone but would help assess if the commissioners could reduce the housing waiting list.
He hopes the report will give the board ‘options’.
