Solar EV Charging Hub Planned for Ronaldsway

Manx Utilities says work is progressing on a new solar-powered electric vehicle charging hub at Ronaldsway Airport.

The Ronaldsway Airport Solar EV Charging Hub will provide ultra-rapid EV charging facilities supported by on-site solar generation and battery storage.

The project is being delivered in partnership with the Department of Infrastructure and Ronaldsway Airport.

It follows the recent installation of ultra-rapid chargers at the Sea Terminal, with the two schemes set to provide charging facilities at the island’s sea and air gateways.

Manx Utilities says the project will help ensure charging infrastructure keeps pace with the growing number of electric vehicles on the island, while making practical use of renewable energy generated on site.

Airport Director Mark Beveridge said the scheme is a “positive step” in improving facilities for passengers and the wider community, while supporting the island’s sustainability ambitions.

Further updates are expected as the project progresses.
