A specialist, 220-tonne crane is due to head for Peel next week.
Subject to suitable weather conditions, the crane will arrive in the island on November 4, before being set up on Thursday, to lift the final two parts of the Peel power station chimney flue into place.
Lifting operations are planned for the afternoon of November 5 and November 6.
A number of flue components were damaged during severe weather in 2025, said a Manx Utilities Authority spokesperson.
“The structures were stabilised and made safe immediately, with repair and refurbishment works subsequently progressing during 2025 and early 2026.
“Fabrication of the two new flue sections is now complete, with final assembly at ground level under way.”
If the setting up of the crane and lifting operation runs to schedule, the crane is expected to leave the site and be returned to the UK during the weekend of November 7 and 8.
But the arrangements are weather-dependent.
The spokesperson added: “Although Peel Power Station now operates less frequently than in the past, it remains an important backup generation asset, supporting the resilience and security of the island’s electricity supply.”
The installation of the new parts of the flue will mean the repair programme has been completed.
