Manx Care’s Baby Loss Certificates will be launched on later this month and to mark the occasion a Midwife has decided to host a ‘Starlight Walk’.
The electronic application for Baby Loss Certificates will feature on the Maternity webpage from November 29.
The certificates are free, and are optional for parents. To request a certificate, all of the following must apply:
- The family has lost a baby before 24 weeks of pregnancy;
- One of the applicants is the baby’s parent or surrogate;
- The parent is at least 16 years old;
- The parent lived on the Isle of Man when they lost their baby;
- The parent currently resides on the Isle of Man.
If families have lost more than one pregnancy, they will be able to request separate certificates.
Starlight Walk
The Starlight Walk is an initiative to support anyone affected by the death of a baby, before, during or shortly after birth, whenever this happened and for as long as they need support.
To celebrate the launch of the baby loss certificates and to raise awareness of the charity SANDs a 5km walk will take place at the Roundhouse walking track.
Anyone is welcome to attend the Starlight Walk and honour the memory of much loved and missed babies.
It will take place on Friday, November 29 from 7pm, and the 10 laps is not compulsory; the event is more about taking time to reflect and raise awareness of the new initiative for the Baby Loss Certificates.
