Steam Packet Schedule Changes Rule Out Day Trips

Changes to the Isle of Man Steam Packet’s published weekend schedule for Liverpool in November will rule out day trips.

The Steam Packet says it is adjusting the schedule “due to tidal and operational issues”.

On November 7, 14, 21 and 28, the Liverpool to Isle of Man sailings on the Ben-my-Chree will move forward and depart at the new time of 1.30pm, rather than 7pm.

A spokesperson said: “Unfortunately, the amendments to the departure times means the sailings are no longer suitable for passengers booked on day trips to Liverpool on these dates.”

They added: “The sailing times have also been amended to allow for Ben-my-Chree to maintain the continuity of the core Heysham passenger and freight service, while repairs to Manxman continue.”

The Arrow is continuing to provide freight sailings.

The 1.45am sailing from Heysham to the Isle of Man is available for any passengers wishing to rebook on this sailing, with the Steam Packet putting on coach services to take foot passengers from Liverpool to Heysham.

Customers must pre-book the coach service at the time of making changes to their sailing.

Any passenger whose booking is affected will be contacted directly by the Steam Packet Company’s reservations team, in travel-date order, and assisted with alternative arrangements. Refunds will be available where there is no suitable alternative sailing.

Manxman in Dry Docck

Manxman is now in dry dock at Balaena Birkenhead, where her two propulsion shafts, liners and bearings, repaired in Denmark, are being refitted.

The spokesperson said: “Once reassembly is complete, Manxman will undertake sea trials before a targeted return to service no later than the end of November, if not sooner.”
