Steam Trains to Run Commuter Service

The island’s steam railway will be used to help commuters tomorrow as another round of bus strikes is set to begin.

Unite the Union members will begin their latest walkout on Friday morning.

Isle of Man Railways says passengers will be charged standard bus fares.

The additional service will leave from Port Erin at 7:45am, arriving in Douglas at 8:45am.

There will also be an additional train from Douglas at 3:10pm from Douglas stopping at Castletown Station at 3:50pm for school children heading south.

The final return train from Douglas to Port Erin will leave at 4:20pm, arriving in Port Erin an hour later.

The Manx Electric Railway is also due to be in use tomorrow for commuters as it has been during previous walkouts.

A full update on tomorrow’s bus services is due later today.
