Stores Ready For New Vape Rules

The Office of Fair Trading says it has visited all stores it believes is selling vaping products ahead of new rules coming into force next month.

From Sunday September 1, it will be illegal to display or advertise vaping products to a person under 18 in places, such as shops, where vaping products are sold.

It is already illegal to sell products to under 18s.

Chairman Tim Glover, replying to a question from Michelle Haywood, who introduced the act, said: “All vaping product retailers were advised about the commencement date of September 1 and how to comply.

“This included discussing cost-effective measures to avoid any unnecessary expenses being incurred.”

He added that no retailer had indicated that they could not meet the deadline.

Mr Glover said: The week beginning Sunday September 1 will see all vaping retailers visited for a third time to ensure that they are compliant with the new requirements.

“During these visits, any issues can be addressed, advised on and then resolved.”
