The Isle of Man Pony Club enjoyed a bumper turnout and perfect spring weather for its Combined Training event at Andreas Airfield on Saturday.
Riders completed a dressage test followed by a round of showjumping, with officials praising the exceptionally high standard of dressage and the number of clear rounds over Jen Crennell’s flowing course.
Despite it being the first grass‑based dressage and showjumping competition of the season, the day passed without incident.
Combined Training
In the Lead Rein 30cm, Clementine Bailey took the win on Cwmllyfell Sabrina, while Chloe Nicholson claimed victory in the Junior 30cm on Wynswood Zephline Rose. Nicola Chatel topped the Senior 30cm class riding Kemysfawr Coco.
George Jackson and Senny Wilma headed the 40cm, with Molly Huxham and Jems Big Boy Bullseye winning the Junior 50cm, and Trish Helliwell taking the Senior 50cm on Enbarr Sirius Black.
Breesha Byers enjoyed a successful day, winning both the Junior 60cm on Joker and the Junior 80cm on Caperann Karl. Claire Bagshaw also secured a double, topping the Senior 60cm and Senior 70cm with Cranmore Lad.
Annabelle Byers claimed the 90cm class on Doire Mhianaigh Glen, while Isla Caine and Kopper Empress took the top spot in the 1m.
The Pony Club extended thanks to the Morrey family of Ballacorey Equestrian for use of the venue, the many sponsors and volunteers, and the team responsible for preparing the new arenas.
The next event will be the Spring One Day Event on May 3, open to non‑members, with classes from 30cm to 1m.
