Manx Utilities has confirmed that specialist support vessel, Aquarius G, will be carrying out routine inspections and maintenance of subsea gas pipelines over the coming weeks.
The pipelines, located off the island’s west coast, supply natural gas to both Ireland and the Isle of Man.
Diving operations are scheduled for October and November, with surveyance and necessary maintenance forecast to run between November and December. While initial activities are due to take place offshore, additional nearshore survey work is planned in the Glen Moaar area later in the programme.
The Aquarius G is said to be functioning on a 24hr basis, and other local mariners are asked to maintain a 1000 meter stand-off at all times, due to the vessel’s restricted manoeuvrability when carrying out it’s work.
