Sue Kirkpatrick has been named the first recipient of the Manx Horse Council’s new Spirit of the Sport Award.
The award recognizes individuals who help make equestrian sport better for everyone around them.
The award celebrates people who encourage participation, support others quietly and consistently, and help build the welcoming community the sport relies on.
Sue was chosen for her long‑standing commitment to riders across the island, from transporting competitors and ponies to off‑island team events to making sure everyone felt included, right down to organising matching team hats.
Her contribution, the Council said, reflects the generosity, teamwork and positivity the award was created to highlight.
Nominations for future recipients are now open. Clubs, coaches, riders, parents and volunteers can put forward names by emailing development@manxhorsecouncil.com with who they are nominating and why they should be recognised.
