Sunday weather and outlook

Firstly, I must apologise to my avid weekend weather fans (literally one person) for the lack of weather reporting yesterday.

I’d had a tooth out and was wallowing in a pool of self pity and ice cream, but I’m back and all systems are go (sort of like the Manxman’s minor issues yesterday).

What I think we should all appreciate is the lack of weather warnings. Yes its a bit gusty, but is there any ice and sideways rain forecast?! No…. well not today anyway.

Sunday

Today (January 28) it is going to be overcast with a few drizzly (you’re on a rock in the middle of the Irish Sea, get over it) outbreaks mainly over high ground where hill fog will persist.

Strong to near gale force southerly winds that will be particularly gusty in the north of the island where gusts to 55mph are possible – a bit of fresh air will do no harm!

Your maximum temperature will be 11°C and the lowest will be 8°C.

Monday

Monday (January 29) isn’t looking great, but hey! Last week was worse.

Cloudy with spells of rain, heavy at times (10-25mm) with a SMALL risk of sleet/snow (don’t get the sledges out yet!!) on highest hills, the rain then becoming lighter overnight.

The wind I personally found great craic, it’s going to be ‘cyclonic’ – that really excited me!! Requesting pictures of the cyclones, please.

Or a north west 10-15mph, 15-20mph in places, then settling West overnight.

There will be extensive hill fog – so maybe not the best day to go hiking up Snaefell for the instagram pictures.

Outlook weather

Tuesday, January 30 patchy rain at first soon dying out, then dry with bright/clear intervals.

Winds increasing again overnight to 25-30mph gusts 40mph in places.

Visibility will be good, falling moderate at times in rain. Hill fog at times.

Wednesday, January 31 – the last day of the month that never ends!!! Its going to be cloudy and breezy with patchy rain developing later.

Wind very much the same as Tuesday evening, with gusts 25-30mph and the occasional 40mph here and there.
