Six secondary school students were suspended for 20 days or more in the last academic year.
Education Minister Daphne Caine confirmed a further 52 secondary pupils received suspensions of 10 to 19 days.
Answering questions from MHKs, Mrs Caine said the department collects “suspension data from all schools”.
She reiterated that suspension is “a last resort,” used “often reluctantly, in cases where the safety of other children and young people may be at risk”.
