Port Erin’s micro-brewery and taproom Kerroo Brewing Company welcomed more than 30 women for the island’s first ever International Women’s Collaboration Brew Day.
Throughout the afternoon, participants were given the opportunity to learn the basics behind making beer, taste and discover the characteristics of different beer styles and tour the working brewery attached to the public taproom.
The IWCBD campaign, in partnership with the Society of Independent Brewers and Associates (SIBA), is run by Women On Tap CIC and aims to promote inclusivity, beer education and the achievements of women within the brewing industry.
Kerroo Brewing Company co-founder and IWCBD co-ordinator Elizabeth Townsend said, “It was a great pleasure to welcome so many keen attendees to learn more about beer and brewing for an afternoon.
“We’re one of forty breweries around the world who are opening their doors to mark IWCBD and we can’t wait to launch our special edition beers for IWD and our first birthday on 8th March.”
Launched in March 2024, Kerroo Brewing Company is an independent micro-brewery housed in the former Commissioners works depot in the Station Road car park in Port Erin. Creating a range of traditional and modern beer styles including pale ales, lagers, stouts, porters and bitters brewed in a 1000L on-site brewhouse, Kerroo has its own public taproom and is also stocked in a growing number of pubs, bars and restaurants around the Isle of Man.
Kerroo Brewing Company will celebrate its first birthday over the weekend of March 7 and 8, with live music from Ruby Biscoe-Taylor and Callum Rowe, plus food from the team at Filbey’s Little Food Shack.
Further details on opening times for the birthday weekend will be announced in the coming weeks.
