Peel Commissioners say they aren’t responsible for the upkeep of memorial benches, but they are encouraging residents to report if they are damaged.
It comes after a post on social media featuring images of a broken memorial bench was circulated among local pages.
Vice-Chair Sharon Lambert says the local authority’s staff don’t do regular checks for damage but can act if they’re not being maintained.
She adds they can remove the plaque and pass it on to a relative or friend if they wish to keep it.
