Efforts to make the Isle of Man Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) friendly by 2034 have taken their next steps.
Two public meetings were hosted by the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) in April – which is Autism Acceptance Month – to raise awareness of a national strategy designed to change the way we think.
A presentation and Q&A session from DHSC members sparked lively engagement from around 100 attendees, some of whom shared their personal experiences.
ASC friendly
The project aims to improve the wellbeing, opportunities and overall quality of life for those within the ASC community.
It covers the public sector, private sector and the Island’s society as a whole, with full support from Tynwald.

Steering Group
Applications are still open for the two or three public positions on the ASC Steering group, open until Friday, May 10.
The Steering Group is being set up to monitor how the actions in the Autism Strategy are progressing.
Specifically the Department is looking for people with an ASC diagnosis, who are aged 18 or over and who live on the Isle of Man to join the group.
