The island’s Fire Service has thanked Dave Maddrell for an “incredible 32½ years of loyal and dedicated service”.
Dave, known as Maddy, joined the service in 1992 and, until his retirement, was the longest-serving firefighter at Rushen Station.
In 2023, he was presented with a commemorative clasp in recognition of 30 years of loyal and dedicated service.
The Fire Service said: “Dave is the last to retire from a remarkable generation of firefighters who joined Rushen Fire Station in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
“On Thursday evening, Chief Fire Officer Mark Christian presented Dave with a commemorative picture on behalf of his colleagues. His presence and character have left a lasting legacy at Rushen Station, and his absence will be deeply felt.
“We extend our heartfelt thanks for his service and wish him and his family a Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy retirement.”
