The Fire & Rescue Service has bid farewell to Firefighter Ray Harris, who retired after nearly 21 years of service at Castletown & Malew Fire Station.
Harris joined the service in January 2004, with the department stating he had “consistently gone above and beyond, regularly providing over 140 hours of on-call cover each week, which is an extraordinary commitment”.
Chief Fire Officer Mark Christian led Thursday’s farewell, paying tribute to Harris’s dedication.
“He will be greatly missed by all of his colleagues,” Mr Christian said, adding, “I wish Ray a very happy and healthy retirement.”
The service also joked about the weather during the celebrations, saying, “We hope Ray, and his colleagues, have managed to dry off after last night’s very wet but well-deserved celebrations!”
