The Cost of Sea Consultancies

Over £700,000 has been spent on consultants for projects in Manx seas since 2012.

The figures were revealed in Tynwald by Treasury Minister Dr Alex Allinson after questioning from MHK Chris Thomas.

Dr Allinson confirmed that £379,808 had been spent on offshore wind project consultancy and £238,852 on hydrocarbon projects.

A further £271,191 was spent on external advisors for legislative, regulatory, and consenting regimes.

Mr Thomas noted a significant increase from a total of £474,917 cited in November 2024 and asked for an indication about how much of that has been incurred since November 2024?

Dr Allinson said: “I’ve tried to address the question on the order paper in terms of what has been spent since 2012 obviously, some of these are ongoing schemes, and so there will be additional expenditure as the years go by.”
