The Lieutenant Governor and Lady Lorimer joined Howard Parkin MBE and Pete Geddes MBE at the James Martin Observatory in Foxdale this week.
Along with members of the Isle of Man Astronomical Society, they were lucky enough to see some incredible views into space after the clouds, luckily, moved away.
The well-equipped, purpose-built observatory makes the most of the Island’s Dark Skies status and gives visitors a wonderful glimpse into the beauty of the sky above us.
Government House said: “With the current planetary alignment, it was the perfect time to look closer at planets such as Jupiter and Mars.”
The group opens their observatory on the third Friday of every month for an informal gathering that includes observing using their telescopes (weather permitting).
