The third man involved in the burglary of a pub in Castletown has been fined.
James Eden Creer, 22, of Castletown, was sentenced by magistrates on Thursday.
Prosecutor Barry Swain said that on the night of May 29 2024, Creer, along with John Horne and Calhoum Tyrer was drunk in Castletown Square.
Shortly after 12:20am, Creer forced open the door of The George, letting himself and the other two men in.
While in the pub, one of the other men took a bottle of beer, before all three left.
When the police were called the scene, it was actually due to a noise complaint as neither they nor the manager of the pub realised entry had been gained at that time.
They gave their names to officers, put the beer in the bin and went home.
The next day, the manager reviewed CCTV and discovered the men had broken into the pub and taken the bottle of beer.
Creer’s advocate Deborah Myerscough said the three were “extremely intoxicated” at the time of the incident and that he was “not proud of his actions”.
Probation officer Sarah Proudlove added that Creer was “extremely sorry” for what he had done and referenced several personal tragedies and struggles he had experienced for which he relied on alcohol.
She added that he was “immature for his age”, however, since the incident he had sought help, which she recommended he be allowed to continue.
The two other men, John Edward Patrick Horne, 19, and Calhoun Tyrer, 25, both from Castletown, were sentenced by Deputy High Bailiff Rachael Briadwood last week.
Magistrates fined him £500 and ordered Creer to pay £125 in costs.
