A Ramsey man who clipped a pedestrian with his car on the way home from a bar has been banned from the roads for three years.
Leigh Martin, 36, also admitted have 0.2g of cocaine in his pocket when sentenced at Douglas Courthouse.
The court heard that at about 7:10pm on June 3 a blue vehicle was seen swerving on Jurby Road before clipping a pedestrian causing its wing mirror to fold in.
Officers attended his home and Martin failed a breath test, a second reading later at Police HQ recorded a reading of 87, with the legal limit being 35.
He told officers he had had three pints at Bar Logo before driving home and acknowledged that his wing mirror had been clipped.
During a search of his person, Martin was found to have 0.2g of cocaine in his pocket which he said was given to him by a friend and he had forgotten about it.
Advocate Jim Travers said Martin “clearly” shouldn’t have been behind the wheel of his car, adding that his client regretted his actions and was remorseful.
He added that Martin had forgotten the drug were on his person, evidenced by having made no attempt to dump it before his arrest.
Deputy High Bailiff Rachael Braidwood fined Martin a total of £2,200 and ordered him to pay £300 in court costs.
He was also banned from the roads for three years and has been ordered to take a drink driving educational course.
If he chooses to drive again, he will also have to pass the extended driving test.
