Tributes have been paid following the sudden death of well-known runner and NSC staff member James Bishop.
David Griffiths of manxathletics.com provided a tribute on its Facebook page.
David said: “It was extremely sad to learn of the recent sudden death of James Bishop, who was well-known in athletics as a keen runner and a member of the outdoor staff at the NSC.”
“James absolutely loved his running, and for many years he was a regular in events such as the cross-country league, Easter Festival and many others.
“He was not the most naturally talented runner, but he trained hard and gave every race everything he had, on occasions resulting in impressive top-six finishes in cross-country races.”
Reflecting on James’ role at the National Sports Centre, David added: “As a member of the NSC outdoor staff he was regularly seen at the track during events and training sessions.
“He was unfailingly helpful and cheerful, and nothing was too much trouble for him.”
Away from work and running, David said James was a keen yachtsman, winning his class in the Round the Island Yacht Race in recent years, as well as being a keen musician who loved playing his guitar.
