A yellow warning for wintry showers and ice will be in force until 3pm this afternoon.

Police have warned of road closures which will affect motorists this morning.

A cold start to the day with a risk of ice on damp/wet untreated surfaces, with the majority of showers now cleared, however outbreaks of rain or sleet will soon arrive, increasingly turning to rain through the day but still falling as snow over high ground.

The moderate to fresh westerly winds will strengthen later this morning, with temperatures slowly climbing up to about 6°C at best.

The outbreaks of rain will clear later on this evening as the wind veers north and eases, with a risk of isolated wintry showers returning overnight and temperatures as cold as -2°C in places.
