DoI Minister Dr Michelle Haywood has confirmed that members of Tynwald will be charged for parking in the government car park.
Before the pandemic members were charged for a reserved space but this was suspended in 2020.
In a written answer to John Wannenbugh, who has previously sought advice on when members will be charged, Dr Haywood said CoMin has agreed to endorse charging members.
She said: “The policy will be circulated imminently and charging Members for parking is expected to start on May 1 2025.
“A letter will shortly be sent to Tynwald Members advising them on the details of the parking policy, how it will be applied and how payments will be made.”
On her constituency Facebook page, Dr Haywood said the decision to seek CoMin support had been hers.
She added: “I know there are some private companies who provide car parking for staff as a part of their job. Historically, Tynwald members paid for their car parking, and my decision reinstates that situation.”
