UCM Launches New Protective Services Course

University College Isle of Man has launched a new Uniformed Protective Services qualification aimed at students considering careers in the emergency services, armed forces and other public service roles.

The new BTEC Level 3 Extended Certificate will replace UCM’s Psychology course and be taught alongside the college’s Level 3 Forensics programme, giving students the opportunity to gain qualifications equivalent to three A-Levels.

The two-year course will cover areas including behaviour and discipline, expedition skills, leadership, teamwork and communication, preparing learners for careers in the police, fire and rescue service, armed forces, prison service and border force, as well as further study in subjects such as policing, criminology and law.

More information is available through UCM and at its open evening on November 19.
