Isle of Man Stamps & Coins has announced the release of a 12-piece set of stamps, in celebration of the 2026 Blein ny Gaelgey (Year of the Manx Language).
The collection, curated alongside Manx artist Felicity Wood and Culture Vannin, revolves around Kegeesh Ommidjagh (Foolish Fortnight).
This traditional Manx festive period ran from the shortest day of the year until the twelfth night on the sixth of January, during which only essential work was carried out, and the island paused for parties, gatherings and celebrations.
Each of the 12 stamps included in the issue offer a glimpse into a different aspect of Manx Christmas and New Year customs, highlighting the unique language, folklore and traditions that continue to shape the Island’s cultural identity.
Felicity Wood explained: “My love for Manx traditions and culture inspired these artworks and I thoroughly enjoyed creating a warm, festive colour palette and imagining how the characters I created would enjoy each celebration regardless of their age.
“There are Manx traditions for everyone when it comes to Christmas!”
The festive issue also carries special significance, as it is released in support of the 90th anniversary of Sight Matters Isle of Man and the 150th anniversary of Mothers’ Union.
Sight Matters CEO, Cathryn Bradley, said: “Having our work recognised on such an iconic, everyday piece of Island heritage during our 90th anniversary year is incredibly special.”
Meanwhile, Mothers Union representative Rachel Anderson, added: “We are delighted to see our anniversary recognised through the Isle of Man’s Christmas stamp issue.”
The Kegeesh Ommidjagh – Foolish Fortnight collection is set to be released on October 20, and is available here.
