The virtual GP pilot in the north of the island has been well received, the Minister for Health and Social Care has told Tynwald.
Claire Christian was responding to questions in Tynwald about the trial’s potential impact on future GP recruitment and patient ratios.
She confirmed the initiative is now set for a formal review, which will determine the service’s future.
“This has had a very good positive effect in the north,” the Minister told members.
“It is going to be reviewed, and obviously we will be coming out with more information on that in due course about how the effect that has positively or negatively, and how that might be rolled out further across the island.”
The review will assess the pilot’s full impact on primary care services and inform a decision on a potential island-wide rollout. No timeline was given for the completion of the review.
