Ramsey welcomed Mezeron’s new ship this morning as the Snaefell River sailed into her new home port.
The Snaefell River is replacing the Silver River, which has served the company for over three decades.
Having sailed from Estonia, the Snaefell arrived in Ramsey bay just before 10am, sailing between the landmark piers shortly after, as a sizeable number of people gathered to see her.
Snaefell is much bigger than Silver River, measuring up at 20m longer and over three metres wider.
Mezeron MD Steve Walton has praised the whole company in working to deliver the new vessel, including those who sailed her to the island, missing Christmas with their own families.
Silver River will continue in service for a few weeks yet while crews are familiarised with Snaefell River, but she is listed for sale and will leave the company next year.

A Familiar Face
There is no doubt that many people will know that the vessel was once named CEG Orbit, sailing under the flag of Latvia.
In August 2021 she infamously ran aground on the island’s west coast when the crew member on the bridge had an “urgent need to go to the toilet”.
There was no fault found with the ship, with that incident being entirely blamed on the crew and their, erm, movements.
