The outgoing leader of Douglas Council believes candidates shouldn’t ‘lose their reason’ for standing when they join the local authority at the end of the month.
Claire Wells says she’s most proud of the ‘working relationships’ which were built with different departments and organisations.
The council is holding an election in its south ward on Thursday 24 April, whilst the other three were uncontested due to the number of candidates that stepped forward.
Mrs Wells says prospective councillors have a ‘purpose’ and are joining the local authority to serve the residents of the capital:
