The Treasury Minister says it isn’t possible to say what the rateable value would be from an onshore windfarm.
In a written answer, Dr Alex Allinson confirmed the figure is not fixed and would depend on a range of factors.
These factors include the size and capacity of the installation, the number and type of turbines, the income generated from electricity production, and the specific site characteristics.
Dr Allinson said: “The Treasury Valuation Office would not determine the rateable value internally. Instead, they would commission an external specialist rating assessment from a private firm with expertise in complex infrastructure valuations.”
“This approach is consistent with our treatment of other major infrastructure assets, such as the runways at the Isle of Man Airport and the Incinerator Site,” he added.
