Work Ongoing to Clear Visas Backlog

The Nationality Service has resumed processing biometric visas after a year-long pause due to system upgrades, with 184 applicants currently awaiting biometric enrolment.

Treasury Minister Dr Alex Allinson confirmed that 33 applicants have been invited for biometrics since the service resumed on March 11, with six already recommended for approval.

The delays stemmed from the development of a new casework management system, which now digitally transfers data to the UK’s nationality system, replacing manual processes.

Applicants were informed at submission that biometrics were suspended during the transition.

Dr. Allinson said: “These new systems and processes should significantly decrease Nationality application processing times.”

Separately, data revealed 498 people were granted British citizenship on the Isle of Man between 2021 and 2025. Figures dropped in 2025 to just 19 due to the system overhaul.
