£3.1m Spent on Castle Rushen High School Planning

More than £3 million has been spent on planning work for the replacement Castle Rushen High School since 2016.

The figures cover project development, feasibility work, design, consultancy and preparatory activity, including work linked to sports pitches, rather than statutory planning fees, as no planning application has yet been submitted.

Government accounts show spending rising steadily between 2017 and 2022, increasing from £36,000 in 2017/18 to £812,000 in 2021/22, and £861,000 in 2022/23.

A further £45,000 was recorded in 2024/25.

Unpublished figures from the Government’s finance system show £641,000 spent in 2025/26, with £88,000 spent so far in 2026/27 up to June.

Officer time is not included in the totals.
